What is the approximate “round count” per session? How much ammunition should I bring?
Due to the high cost of ammunition (and the lack of availability), people are in luck here. My sessions focus primarily on technique. (I tell people that they can go to the range anytime and blow 1000 rounds of ammo at their leisure, if they choose.)
I prefer to focus on drilling the Israeli counter terror methods into my operators in order to create a "muscle memory" reaction. Since my focus is less on punching a thousand holes into a target and more on proper Israeli technique, you can expect to fire no more than 300-500 rounds at a maximum during the training session.
I suggest you bring 500 rounds for your primary/carry/duty weapon in case you end up shooting more and 50 rounds for any backup weapon.
I have no "set" round count as I do not believe that an operator should fire a set amount of rounds at a target.
Since different targets require different stopping power, I will never instruct my operators to, for instance, "fire 3 rounds at the target and re-holster your firearm." I believe this behavior is a negative approach to combat shooting and it creates a negative "muscle memory" drill.
How many hours is a group training session?
Group training sessions are either run for 4 or 8 hours, depending on the session.
Do you teach “loaded chamber” or “empty chamber” techniques?
My primary teaching method is "loaded chamber."
I do teach the “empty chamber” technique as well but that is not my primary training method.
I am a strong proponent of carrying "loaded chamber" and I explain the logical and detailed reasons why during the sessions. I do teach a very unique method of chambering that is unique to the Israeli method and focuses on the "economy of movement" principal (less movement and less action to arrive at the same destination means faster response time.)
Do you teach “Krav Maga” (Israeli Hand to Hand Combat?)
Yes! During our training session we will go over multiple aggressive unarmed combat techniques that are unique to the Israeli Krav Maga fighting system. This system is very aggressive but it works no matter your physical strength or size or previous fighting experience or lack of experience.
We will work on the following:
Weapons disarming:
Pistol: How to disarm and attack an attacker with a pistol to your front and rear
Knife: How to disarm and attack an attacker with a knife to your neck (i.e. hostage situation)
Rifle: How to disarm and attack an attacker with a rifle to your front
We will also focus on using your hands, knees, teeth and elbows in order to attack your attacker in an aggressive manner.
Remember, YOU ARE THE WEAPON!

What kind of prior experience do I need to take part in this course?
Absolutely no prior training or experience is necessary. Some of our most sucessful trainees have never even touched a firearm before. We teach all levels, from beginners to experienced. This is a great course for the experienced - and works as an incredible and invaluable supplement to concealed carry holders as well. What you learn here will help you gain confidence in your defensive abilities, your comfort with personal firearms and your level of constant awareness.
What type of firearm and equipment do I need to take part in this course?
Simple. The firearm you are comfortable with. There are no specific requirements such as make or caliber - however we do feel a person is better off when focused and totally familiar inside and out with one specific carry gun. 9mm, .45 ACP, .40 S&W as well as a host of other centerfire pistols are absolutely acceptable. Specific courses will require use of a rifle - generally accomodated by AR-15 style weapons.
Primary equipment required for course:
• Primary carry pistol (semi-auto, 9mm and above)
• At least 2 empty pistol magazines (preferrably 3 or more)
• 500 rounds of pistol ammo
• Combat rifle if you own one (our course is a pistol course but we will introduce Israeli combat rifle techniques)
• Backup pistol if you typically carry one (with ammo and holster for the backup)
• Strong side holster (Shoulder holsters and waist packs are NOT permitted)
• Magazine pouch that holds at least 1 spare magazine, preferably 2
• Shooting glasses and hearing protection
• Hydration pack (Camelback etc...) if you own one, or if not, at least 2+ gallons of water
• Lunch and other food for energy
• Carry knife (if you carry one)
• Flashlight (if you carry one)
• Firearm cleaning kit
We want you to bring with you what you would normally carry on a daily basis and use during your regular day.
What kind of shape do I need to be in to participate?
While you do not need to be in "great" shape to train with us, you will be required to perform various techniques that involve running, squatting and kneeling as well as physical contact when working the Krav Maga techniques.
